What To Know About Microblading Aftercare

After a microblading procedure, a technician suggests different ways to care for your eyebrows to help them heal and maintain their color. When you take care of your new look, the need to retouch it decreases. This is because a proper routine helps manage issues like fading. Here are some things to know about this cosmetic procedure’s aftercare:

Keep the Area Dry After the Procedure

Since moisture, sweat, and steam may prevent the pigment from properly settling and affect results, it’s beneficial to keep the treated area dry. After microblading, it’s better to avoid getting water on the area during showers, washing your face, and sweating from exercise.

Instead of splashing water on your face, use a damp cloth or cotton pad to wipe around your eyebrows. When you need to shower, warm water is more suitable because it doesn’t produce steam, which opens pores and ruins the pigment. You can wear a shower visor to protect your eyebrows from moisture in your bathroom.

Apply Medicated Cream

If you have a medicated cream or healing balm that your technician has recommended, apply it to your eyebrows to help them heal. Lightly using it on the area prevents problems, such as flaking, redness, and itching, which can be uncomfortable.

Before applying the ointment, wash your hands to prevent the spread of germs or infection to the healing area. You can also use a cotton swab or fingertip to add the product to your skin and let it settle. To avoid suffocating the skin with too much cream, use a thin layer and don’t rub it in.

Avoid Wearing Makeup

After the procedure, your skin may be sensitive, so it’s best to avoid makeup to prevent dirt from entering, causing discomfort. Some products contain oils or chemicals that could cause the pigment to fade or change color within a short time.

When you wear makeup, it can prevent your skin from healing and getting proper oxygenation due to the various ingredients. Fragrances and preservatives in some makeup products may react to the delicate microbladed area and cause irritation.

To avoid these issues, keep your eyebrows clean and wait until your technician says it’s safe to wear makeup again.

Protect Your Brows From the Sun

Once your brows heal completely, protect them from the sun to help them retain their shape and color. One of the ways to shield your skin from too much sunlight is by applying broad-spectrum sunscreen, which works on sensitive skin.

When applying sunscreen, apply it evenly and reapply as needed when spending time outdoors. You may also wear wide-brimmed hats or caps to safeguard your brows and entire face from harmful sun rays.

Protecting your treated brows from the sun helps keep them safe from damage while the skin is recovering. It also prevents fading.

If you have sparse, thin, or uneven brows, microblading is a suitable solution because it creates the appearance of natural, fuller brows.
